As a journalist the whole concept of following around a band to photograph their pre-show experience can be a bit awkward. It’s like you’ve been dropped off at a party you weren’t invited to. Your ride already left, there’s no booze, and you’ve already been spotted so there’s no way to slip out gracefully.
My afternoon with Diane Coffee was probably the best blind date I’ve ever been on. Filled with yoga warmups and pizza on Mott St. where Shaun used to live, this group of friends were so chill my presence didn’t phase them, allowing me to capture some pretty raw moments.
