I kind of hate indie blog rock. I actually do. I’m sure I’m wrong for my stance, but most of it comes off as uninspired hotel art trying desperately to be unique, while not rocking the boat or showing anything resembling emotion. Maybe not really an ideal stance for a music photographer. So, depending on how much whiskey I consume, CMJ can really feel like watching a trust fund kid’s art film.

However, every year a few bands come off as inspired and infectious enough to arise from the midst of what I perceive as mediocrity and blow me away. Here are 8 of those bands from 2015.
